Our client is a tech startup that's significantly improving the patient experience in healthcare.

Right now they're looking for a hands-on Director of Data Engineering to lead a team of data scientists, data engineers, and data analysts as they continue to scale.  You are someone that is excited about being a pioneer in the healthcare technology space & you enjoy solving complex business problems in a fast-paced, collaborative, and inclusive environment.

Added perk is they are a remote-first culture (with occasional visits to the office after Covid-19).

  • Contribute to the system architecture & infrastructure decision making processes
  • Collaborate with & across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement & support technical solutions in full-stack development tools & technologies
  • Mentor & support your team
  • Work with a team of developers with deep experience in machine learning, distributed microservices & full stack systems
  • Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with & learning new technologies
  • Collaborate with product managers & deliver robust cloud-based product features & insights that improve patient’s lives
  • Perform unit tests & conduct reviews with other team members to make sure your code is rigorously designed, elegantly coded, & effectively tuned for performance
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field is required, Master's Degree is strongly preferred
  • 4+ Years of Data Warehouse Experience with Oracle, Redshift, PostgreSQL, etc.
  • 3+ years experience as a people manager
  • Experience mentoring & managing Data Scientists and Data Engineers
  • Significant experience with machine learning models and analysis of large data sets
  • Demonstrated strength in SQL, data modeling, ETL development & data warehousing
  • Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Ruby, Scala, Java, etc.)
  • Proven track record of sharing outcomes through written communication, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Experience with Linux/UNIX
  • At least 1 year of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or another public cloud service
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex technology solutions to senior leadership to ensure alignment and drive progress
Nice to have
  • Extensive experience working with AWS with a strong understanding of Redshift, EMR, Athena, Aurora, DynamoDB, Kinesis, Lambda, S3, EC2, etc.
  • Experience with Looker and/or Tableau
  • Experience with NLP
